Our people care about animals at Highland Kennels. We are trained experts who also love what we do. Here is a summary of our key personnel and staff. For all you animal lovers out there, note that throughout this text you can click on animals' names to see more.

Andre de Garmeaux

"Our ultimate goal is to provide a safe, clean, comfortable and fun ‘home away from home’ for our four-legged friends to enjoy — allowing you to have a worry-free getaway." — Andre

  Role
Owner / Operator
  In Brief

Andre has always had a toe in the business, actually running the day-to-day operations for 12 of the last 30 years. Approximately half of that time was while George (co-founder) battled Leukemia and Lillian (aka mom, co-founder) focused on his care. The other 18 years encompassed a wide-ranging career in technology, including Planning Research Corporation, BDM International and Micro Warehouse Inc.

Over the last three years, Andre has spearheaded the facelift of Highland Kennels, updating lighting, flooring, landscaping and, of course, creation of this website (many thanks and kudos to Katie @ Nonlinear NYC).

Lillian & George Knobloch

“As life changes, I have turned the business over to my son, Andre. I am happy to see that he is carrying on what George and I began over 30 years ago. — It has always been our philosophy to treat the boarders as our own dogs.”  — Lillian

  Role
Co-Founders
  In Brief

Both Lillian and George have always had a love of animals. In many ways, one was the heart and the other the lungs that created Highland Kennels. On weekends, they would be off showing the Highland Labs at shows across the North American continent. During the week, George worked a 9–5 and Lillian developed the regimen of dog care that is the basis for much of what is done to this day at Highland Kennels. Both participated in several dog clubs, Labrador and all-breed. They helped start the Mid Jersey Labrador Retriever Club and both held offices in all of the local clubs. Lillian has judged at several shows. Our own Tanker was shown at Westminster in 1993 and his son Ranger followed suit.

From 1978 through 1981, on vacations from the 9–5 world, George, his stepson Andre and a cast of friends and family built what is Highland Kennels dog boarding, daycare and grooming today, including creation of a half-acre pond for the dogs to be trained in field work.
